On Top of His Game

WWE Magazine - June 2003
It's time all you Triple H hater's finally give "The Game" his due. He is, without a doubt, the greatest Superstar of the 21st century. You may not like his tactics. You may not like his attitude. But you cannot deny his greatness. Triple H is that damn great.
A few months ago, Raw Magazine ran a survey asking fans who is the greatest WWE Champion of all time? Not surprisingly, very few of you mentioned Triple H's name. Granted, he hasn't been around as long as some other WWE greats, but to relegate him to the second tier of WWE Champions is an unadultered disgrace on your part.
Let's look at the facts: seven-time Heavyweight Champion; Undisputed World Champion; three-time Intercontinental Champion; World Tag Team Champion. Need I go on?
Since you fans probably know all this and still don't get it, it appears that I must provide you with more reasons: Iron Man matches; Steel Cage matches, Hell in a Cell matches - we could fill the whole magazine. Triple H has won in every environment conceivable.
And now, let's look at who he's beaten: The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Kane, Rob Van Dam, Shawn Michaels...the list goes on and on and on. Triple H has defeated every one of your favorites.
Now, I realize that you believe that there is one guy out there who can knock "The Game" off his pedestal. You point to his incredible winning streak, his imposing presence, and his ability to feed off of your cheers to perform superhuman feats. You think he will eventually defeat Triple H. As usual, you're wrong.
Let me tell you why...
First off, forget how dominant Triple H has been in recent years. Forget how much pain he can endure. Forget how much smarter he is than everyone else. Forget his superior wrestling ability. Forget his Herculean strength. Forget his incredible stamina. Forget his unequaled determination. Triple H will not lose to Goldberg.
The reason: He's too damn smart. Once again, The "Cerebral Assassin" will show everyone that his genious will overmatch the rest of WWE's roster, including Goldberg.
He'll get inside Goldberg's head. He'll have him thinking about everything except what he should be focusing on. You can bet your last dollar on that.
Most of you believe that you'll be able to effect the outcome of this encounter when it takes place. You think your chants of "Goldberg! Goldberg! Goldberg!" will get to Triple H. What you never seem to realize is that Triple H doesn't care one iota what you say or think. Why should he>
You boo him, you yell vile things his way, and worse of all, you refuse to acknowledge his greatness. You think that chants for his opponents are going to affect him in a negative way? You couldn't be more wrong.
Every time you boo him or root for his opponent, it only strengthens his resolve. It only makes him want to fight harder and longer. To be fair to Triple H, he is battling the greatest fighters in the world, and even a man of his empeccable skill and will cannot always win, but even if he does suffer an occasional loss, he'll rebound in no time. He always has.
But let's get back to Goldberg for the moment. Triple H will not stumble. Triple H won't succumb to him or all of you who will be rooting so hard for him to lose. As a matter of fact, you fans may be the difference in this match. Your cheers for Goldberg will spur Triple H to unprecedented heights. Your hatred for "The Game" will backfire, and you will be responsible for yours' and Goldberg's defeat.
And when Triple H defeats Goldberg, when he once again sits atop the sports-entertainment world, write the editor of this magazine. Tell him how sorry you are. Tell him how wrong you were. Tell him how great Triple H really is.
Show a little dignity.
